My Toe-Up Sock Pattern

here it is: http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEsummer06/PATTwiddershins.html
The pattern calls for four dpns but I use two circulars in place of needles 1, 2, 3 and 4. Much easier! If you have any questions, I'll be happy to do what I can to help.
Happy knitting and thanks for reading.

Welcome to all of my TWO PEAS Caps for Good knitters!

I was so excited to see your hometowns on my Feedjit. Thanks for reading. If you find something here worthwhile, I'm happy!
This is how we shoveled snow after the deluge on Wednesday. And by "we", I mean our neighbor, John.
I just got two new software programs, Corel Paint and Photo and Printmaster Platinum. I'm going to attempt a little digital design: this is a birthday card I made for my friend Debbie, who is an Anglophile like me:
It's going to be a hand-made birthday for Debbie. I made her a pair of socks!
She thinks she hates homemade socks! I knit these from elastic and cotton sock yarn from Paton's. I don't think I've ever posted my sock pattern before; I'll look it up and post it here for you toot sweet. I'm using the one from Knity 2006. I practically know it by heart! It's all done in one piece on two circulars - a great technique you can use for any circular project in lieu of DPNs.
See you in the Pod.
Love, Rosie

Cap Update and a Welcome.......

I have a reader from West Roxbury, Mass who's shown up a couple of times- I'm amazed because I wanted to subtitle this blog: "If you're reading this, you're probably my sister." Usually the only person who shows up in my Feedjit is....ME!
So - whoever you are - you are welcome and I'm flattered. Thanks for reading. Now pick up your needles and make a baby cap!
This is the pattern I've been working from. It's very basic but I  did find it in Itty Bitty Hats so I have to give them credit for it. I have posted the inst for a newborn size.
I used baby yarn and a size 3 16" circular to start. When I got to my dec rows I put half the stitches on another circular, but the inst call for dpns. It's your call - I've even put the stitches on a 9" circular.
These inst are very bare-bones. Let me know if you have a question, or go to the store and buy Itty Bitty Hats. It's a great resource!

Caps for Good Deadline Feb. 28

I've decided to jump on the bandwagon and try to make as many hats as possible before the deadline. If you care to join me, let me know! This is a good opportunity to use up spare yarn, since a baby cap takes such small yardage.
I'm snowed in today again ("Wen-DEEEEEEEEEEEEE!") so I am going to try to churn out at least one little hat.
This website has some info. Caps for Good
My craft room post was a little sparse, so I included a link to 2peas where I have some more photos.
Thanks for looking.
I'm going to search for a counter I can use to keep track of cap production - yours, included!
Thanks for reading.

I have lots more pictures at the above link, and go into a little more detail.

My Creative Space

This is my hideout. I love being here and I love tweaking it.
I like unique storage items, like these little spice drawers I got at Liquidation World.
It gets really messy while I'm working on a project but can be cleaned up in no time, thanks to a system of "drop baskets". Every item has a specific drop basket that it goes into, according to item. I have a paper drop, a small materials drop, and a basket where I toss errant balls of yarn. You can go back later and put the items in their designated spots.

Christmas Eve at our house

As usual, we celebrated Christmas with Roger's mom and family. I always have a craft for the kids, but htis year I included everyone in the activity - decorating teeny-tiny sweaters! But first, on Thursday Lisa and Alicia came over to make tamales.
We made a whole bunch.
I finally finished my hooked rug. I designed it myself from a Christmas card Brenda gave us two years ago.
There's no artist listed on the card, but if you know who this talented person is please let me know.
The children and the grown-ups enjoyed the sweaters. Jeff used one as a beer coozie.
So nice to see everyone together.

The Final Count

The final tally of my "Fifty-two pairs in 2010" is less than planned but doesn't match my enthusiasm for my project. I think I may have made it into the double-digits. I am able to knit a pair in a few days tops, which gives you an idea of how busy I am otherwise.
Some current projects have been the teenty-tiny sweaters. We have a huge party each year on Christmas Eve with Roger's family and I always have some crafty activity planned for the kids. The little girls in the family outnumber the boys - which always makes a huge difference in how one's craft project is received. The boys are usually bundled up and thrown outside to the wolves until it's time to open presents. Because of technival difficulties, I'm unable to post my picures at this time but will ASAP.
